Helping You Today to Prepare for Tomorrow

Jane J. Larson Associates specializes in helping people make smart decisions today, which will benefit them and their loved ones long into the future. Whether this means helping to ensure a real estate transaction goes smoothly, planning for retirement, making medical planning decisions for the future, or any number of other things, we are here to help. It does not matter what stage in life you are in—you may be  just getting ready to start really thinking about the future, or you may be well into retirement—now is the time to act, and our legal services are a great first step.

Estate Planning

You’ve worked hard (or are working hard) to build up your estate so you will have everything you need after you retire, and so that you can pass everything along to your loved ones when the time comes. If you don’t have a proper estate plan in place, however, much of what you have worked for could be lost to unnecessary taxes, burdensome medical bills, and other avoidable expenses.

Making smart decisions today will not only help you maximize your estate value, but will also help ensure the right medical and financial decisions are made on your behalf should you become incapacitated. The sooner you start planning your estate, the more options you will have available.

When a loved one passes away, it is often necessary to work through the probate courts to ensure their estate is settled and their assets can be distributed according to their wishes. This can be a complex and costly process if not done correctly, which is why it is so important to have an attorney guiding you every step of the way.

In addition to helping clients work through the probate process after the death of a loved one, we can also help you make smart decisions today that can help keep your estate out of the probate courts altogether. This can help make the transition of your estate to your loved ones much easier, while also saving them a lot of money, when the time comes.

Elder Law

Keeping your aging loved ones safe, and taking steps now to ensure your wishes are honored as you get older, are two of the most important goals of elder law. We can help with long-term care planning, Medicaid and Medicare preparation, and much more. Whether you need elder law assistance for a parent, or you want to prepare for your own future, we can help you every step of the way.

Real Estate

Buying and selling real estate is a complex process that will impact your life for decades to come. While many people think that simply having a realtor at their side is sufficient, that is rarely the case. An attorney with experience in real estate law can significantly help reduce risk by performing proper title searches, reviewing legal documents, and being at your side throughout the process to ensure everything goes smoothly from a legal perspective.

Guardianships & Conservatorships

When someone becomes unable to make sound decisions on their own behalf, it often becomes necessary to set up a guardianship, a conservatorship, or both. A guardian is a person to whom the court gives legal authority to make medical (and other) decisions on behalf of someone who they have determined to be unable to make sound decisions on their own. A conservator is someone the court gives the legal authority to make financial decisions for another person. In both cases, the person or people who are given this authority are legally obligated to act in the best interests of the person whom they are helping.
